In North America, the buzz is on safety audits, especially on golf courses, and landscapers. We know you’re busy and an audit is disruptive and causes anxiety, but the fact is, these auditors are doing you a favor.
Regardless of your State or Province, workplace safety auditors want to know that an employee has been given basic instruction on each piece of equipment, hazard awareness training, and that you have some sort of record—even a sign-off sheet—to satisfy them that this training actually took place.
On the upside, if you have done this training, then if there is an accident, you have probably done your due diligence and will escape a penalty. More importantly though, by having done the training, there probably won’t be an accident, and forget the penalty, imagine how you’d feel if one of your young employees lost a hand or foot!
